North Bay Gymnastics is so excited for its TOPs program!
On October 7-9, four North Bay TOPs gymnasts traveled to the USA Gymnastics Olympic Training Facility at the Karolyi Ranch in Texas to vie for one of the coveted spots on the 2016 TOPs National A and B Teams.
With the results just announced, North Bay congratulates 9 year-old Melanie Naranjo for qualifying to the TOPs National B Team! Melanie will travel again to the Karolyi Ranch in December to train for three days with the national coaching staff. Way to go, Melanie!
North Bay also congratulates 10 year-old Eleanor Wyly for both qualifying to the TOPs National A Team and for receiving an invitation from National Team Coordinator Valeri Liukin to attend Developmental Invite Camp [DIC] in lieu of the TOPs training camp. With her acceptance of Liukin's invitation, Eleanor will train with the national team coaching staff to pursue her aspirations of becoming a HOPEs and elite gymnast, hopefully one day qualifying for the US National Team. We are so proud of you, Ella!
Eight-year old Madelyn Pierce and ten-year-old Katelyn Eugenio gave it their all during two days of testing, including physical abilities and gymnastics skills on vault, bars, beam and floor. Way to bring it, girls!
All six of our TOPs gymnasts participated in USA Gymnastics TOPs testing this past summer, and all six qualified in their respective age groups. That's a 100% success rate for North Bay TOPs and Head Coach Susie Goodmanson. In qualifying for the TOPs Diamond Team, Dreah Bernstein and Eliani Pingol are now two of the top fifty seven-year-old TOPs gymnasts in the country.
North Bay is so proud of all our TOPs girls and our head coach, Susie Goodmanson. What a way to end the 2016 TOPs season!
In June and July, North Bay's TOPs gymnasts participated in four separate TOPs physical abilities and skills testing sessions to try to qualify as one of the top gymnasts nationwide in each of their age groups. The best 7-year-olds qualify for the TOPs National Diamond Team based solely on their state or regional TOP test scores. The top scoring 8-10 year old gymnasts are invited to the National TOPs Test as National Qualifiers in October at the Olympic Training Center (the Karolyi Ranch) in Huntsville, TX. The most successful gymnasts are named to the TOPs A National Team and the gymnasts with the next 60 highest scores make the TOPs B National Team.
North Bay Gymnastics' Melanie Naranjo and Eleanor Wyly earn coveted spots on TOPs National Teams and USA Gymnastic's Developmental Invite Camp!
