Lisa Mitzel, acclaimed mental skills coach and former Stanford women's gymnastics coach and elite gymnast, will present a one-day workshop at NBAA Gymnastics, on Sunday, December 13th, for coaches and competitive athletes to develop and hone mental skills and tools for building trust and taking risks.
When: Sunday, December 13, 2015; 8:15 AM-11:45 AM, Coaches Only; 2:15 PM-4:45 PM, Athletes and Coaches (no parents).
This is a free workshop for NBAA competitive team members and is obligatory for all NBAA optional team members and the North Bay coaching staff. The sign-up deadline was November 14, 2015.
Lisa Mitzel grew up in a family of nine in Southern California. As a gymnast, she trained with the best coaches in the country, including top sport psychologists, and learned the keys to winning. At fifteen, she was a 2-Time U.S. Junior Olympic National Champion, competed Elite level and placed 25th in the United States. With a full scholarship at the University of Utah, she became an NCAA 6-Time All-American, NCAA National Champion, and member of 4 NCAA National Championship teams. Later, Lisa was inducted into the University of Utah’s Hall of Fame. She danced professionally, coached at various clubs, and in the 90's, Stanford University hired her as the women’s gymnastics coach. For six years, Stanford Gymnastics broke every school record, placed in the top 10 at NCAA Nationals, and started a new era. Currently, she speaks, coaches, choreographs, and teaches mental skills to athletes and groups. With a B.A. in Psychology, and M.F.A. in Writing, Lisa is published in Rutledge Handbook of Applied Sport Psychology. She has raised three children and lives in Menlo Park, CA.
