The TOPs Program at NBAA is a well-established and successful program with a history of national team members and national testing qualifiers.
The Talent Opportunity Program (TOPs) is a nationwide, annual program to identify young gymnasts who have the ability to excel in the sport. During the months of June and July, thousands of gymnasts (ages 7-10 years) across the US participate in state or regional TOP testing. Gymnasts are evaluated on their abilities to properly perform handstands, press handstands, casts, leg lifts, rope climbs, leg lifts, as well as gymnastics skills on vault, bars, beam and floor.
The best 7-year-olds qualify for the TOPs National Diamond Team based solely on their state or regional TOP test scores. The top scoring 8-10 year old gymnasts are invited to the National TOPs Test as National Qualifiers in October at the Olympic Training Center (the Karolyi Ranch) in Huntsville, TX. The most successful gymnasts are named to the TOPs National 'A' or 'B' Teams and are invited to participate in the National TOPs Training camp in December under the National Team coaching staff.
Successful gymnasts are accompanied to training camps by our Head Coach who also receives on-going professional development in cooperation with the USAG national coaching staff for the good of the whole program.
NBAA Team Program Director and Head Coach Susie Goodmanson identifies and invites young gymnasts to participate in her TOPs training program based on their performance in current instructional or developmental program classes.
